Works Best On
Black-and-white photography, high-contrast portraits, architectural shots, and any image that looks interesting in greyscale. If the greyscale version is interesting, the duotone will be too.
When to Skip It
Colorful flat illustrations lose their color identity and look muddied. Very low-contrast images with only midtones produce flat results. Run the greyscale test first — dull greyscale means dull duotone.
