Drop a transparent PNG

PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG — up to 30 MB

Runs entirely in your browser. Your image is never uploaded.

What separates a clean drop shadow from a muddy one

01

Realistic soft shadow

The shadow is cast from your subject shape, not a rectangle, so a cut-out product or logo floats naturally above the surface. Control the blur for softness, the vertical offset for how high the subject sits, and the colour to match warm or cool lighting.

02

Why transparency matters

A drop shadow needs to know where your subject ends and empty space begins, and that comes from the alpha channel of a transparent PNG. On a JPG or any image with a solid background, there is no transparency, so the whole rectangle casts the shadow instead of the shape.

03

Canvas grows to fit

The output canvas expands automatically so the shadow is never clipped at the edges. The extra room added around your subject stays fully transparent, which means you can drop the finished image onto any background and only the subject and its shadow show.

04

Tuning blur and offset

A small offset with a tight blur reads as an object resting close to the surface. A larger offset with a wider, softer blur makes the subject appear to hover higher above the page. Keep the shadow colour darker than the background for a grounded, believable look.

05

Prepare your cutout first

For the cleanest shadow, remove the background before you start using the Remove Background tool. A tidy alpha edge produces a shadow that follows the silhouette precisely, while stray leftover pixels around the subject can create small unwanted specks of shadow.

How to add a drop shadow

1

Upload a transparent PNG

Drop in a cut-out subject with a transparent background. Images without transparency will shadow the whole rectangle instead of the shape.

2

Tune the shadow

Adjust the blur for softness, the vertical offset for height, and the colour. The result updates live in the preview as you drag.
