Why use this edit tool
Even space on every side
Set how much room to add and it is applied evenly around the image, growing the canvas without scaling or distorting your content. The picture stays exactly the same size and sharpness; it simply gains margin on all four sides. This is the reliable way to add consistent whitespace instead of nudging things by hand.
Transparent or solid fill
Leave the new space transparent to keep a clean PNG that drops onto any background, or fill it with a solid colour to sit the image on a coloured card. A transparent fill is best for logos over unknown backgrounds, while a solid fill is handy for uniform social tiles and thumbnails.
Fix tight crops
Logos and icons that touch the edges of their file often look cramped or get clipped by rounded masks and circular avatar frames. Adding padding gives them a safe margin so nothing important is cut off in app stores, profile pictures, and social previews where the platform applies its own crop.
Padding vs border vs resize
Padding adds space around the image. A border adds a visible coloured outline. Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of the image itself. If your logo feels tight, pad it. If you want a frame, add a border. If the file is simply too big or small, resize it instead of padding.
Hit an exact aspect ratio
Many platforms expect a square or a specific ratio, and a wide or tall image gets awkwardly cropped to fit. Padding a short side out lets you reach a square or the ratio you need while keeping the whole image visible. The result downloads as a PNG so transparent padding is preserved cleanly.
