What actually goes wrong when a logo is resized
Leave one field blank
One number: the longest side. Whichever edge is bigger becomes that, and the other follows the original ratio. There is no second field to fill in, which removes the single most common way a resized logo goes wrong — forcing it into a box that is the wrong shape and stretching it.
Downscaling is lossy, upscaling is worse
Making a logo smaller throws pixels away permanently. Making it bigger invents them: the file grows but no detail appears, and edges soften. Always resize down from the largest master you have rather than up from an export.
Why an SVG would be better
A vector logo scales to any size with no loss at all, because it stores shapes rather than pixels. If you have an SVG, use it. This tool is for the common case where all you were sent is a PNG.
Transparency is preserved
Alpha is resampled along with the colour, so a transparent logo stays transparent at the new size and keeps its silhouette.
Sizes worth knowing
Favicons want 32 and 180 pixels square. App icons want 512 and 1024. A site header logo is usually 200 to 400 wide, and social profile images want at least 400 square. Export the largest you need first and step down from it.
