Transparency Tool

Make an Image Transparent

Pick the colour you want gone and it becomes transparent. Best on flat backgrounds such as white, black, or a green screen. Tolerance handles soft edges.

Describe the edit — the AI assistant does it on the canvas.

How colour-based transparency works

01

Colour matching, not object detection

This tool finds every pixel close to the colour you pick and sets its alpha to zero. It does not know what a subject is, which makes it fast and exact on flat backgrounds and unsuitable for a photograph where the background varies.

02

What tolerance controls

Matching is done in Lab colour space, which measures difference the way the eye does rather than by raw RGB distance. Tolerance sets how far from your chosen colour a pixel can be and still be removed. Low values take only the exact colour; higher values sweep up the anti-aliased pixels around edges.

03

When to reach for the AI remover instead

If your background has gradients, texture, shadows or a photographed scene, colour matching will either leave halos or eat into the subject. Those cases need the AI background remover, which separates subject from background by understanding the image.

04

Getting clean edges

A JPG background is never one flat colour, because compression spreads it into a range of near-identical values. That is why a white background can need a tolerance of 20 or more before the last grey pixels disappear. Raise it until the fringe goes, then stop.

05

The output must be PNG

Transparency needs an alpha channel and JPG does not have one. The result is always a PNG so the transparency survives; saving it as JPG afterwards would fill it back in with white.

How to make an image transparent

1

Upload your image

Drop in a PNG, JPG, WebP, or SVG, or click to browse. Images with a flat background work best.

2

Pick the colour to remove

Choose the background colour, then raise tolerance until the fringe around your subject disappears. The checkerboard shows exactly what has been knocked out.

Where knocking out a colour helps

Product photos

Strip a plain studio backdrop so products sit on any page background.

Logos from documents

Recover a usable transparent logo from a PDF export or screenshot with a white background.

Green screen stills

Knock out a chroma key backdrop from a frame grab or photograph.

Stickers and overlays

Cut a flat-background graphic free so it can be layered anywhere.

What people use it for

The jobs the editor was built around — and what it does differently on each one.

Colourways you can revisit

Every edit is a layer, not a bake. When the brand shifts, reopen the file and change the colour rather than rebuilding the variant from the original.

Cutouts with awkward edges

AI background removal that keeps hair, foliage and soft shadows instead of stamping a hard outline around them. The output is a transparent PNG, ready to place.

No export, edit, re-import loop

The Framer plugin runs on the canvas you are already working in, so a recolour or a cutout does not mean a round trip through a second application.

Ten options in the time one used to take

Recolour once and step through the alternatives, so a client review can look at the whole range instead of the one version there was time to make.

Brand colours matched exactly

Pick a colour straight off an existing asset and get the hex, rather than eyeballing it against a screenshot and hoping it is close enough.

Free to preview, priced per export

Previewing is unlimited and costs nothing. A credit is spent only when you download a full-resolution file, so exploring an idea is never the expensive part.
