Rescuing a photographed impression

01

A real impression is uneven

Ink pools at the edges and thins in the middle, the paper has texture, and the camera adds a gradient. That is why the default cut-off here is 150 — lower than every other stamp page, because a photographed impression is darker and dirtier than a digital source.

02

Press it properly first

The single biggest improvement happens before any software: fresh ink, plain white paper, one firm press with no rocking. A clean impression thresholds in one pass; a smudged one never quite does.

03

Reading the slider

Lower the cut-off until the paper texture disappears, then stop. If rim text starts breaking up you have gone too far and lost detail that no later step can bring back.

04

Re-inking after the fact

The tint replaces whatever colour the physical ink was, so a black test impression can become the red you actually want. Photograph in whatever ink you have and set the colour here.

05

The paper goes away

The light half of the image is deleted rather than whitened, so the result drops onto a coloured document or a scan without a white rectangle behind it.

Getting a clean impression

One firm press, no rocking

Rocking the stamp doubles the edges and no threshold will separate them. Press straight down and lift straight up.

Coated paper beats copier paper

Uncoated stock absorbs ink and adds texture that reads as speckle. A smooth or lightly coated sheet gives a far cleaner edge.

Watch for shadow gradients

A shadow across the page is a brightness ramp, and no single cut-off separates a ramp from ink. Shoot in flat, indirect light.

What people use it for

The jobs the editor was built around — and what it does differently on each one.

Colourways you can revisit

Every edit is a layer, not a bake. When the brand shifts, reopen the file and change the colour rather than rebuilding the variant from the original.

Cutouts with awkward edges

AI background removal that keeps hair, foliage and soft shadows instead of stamping a hard outline around them. The output is a transparent PNG, ready to place.

No export, edit, re-import loop

The Framer plugin runs on the canvas you are already working in, so a recolour or a cutout does not mean a round trip through a second application.

Ten options in the time one used to take

Recolour once and step through the alternatives, so a client review can look at the whole range instead of the one version there was time to make.

Brand colours matched exactly

Pick a colour straight off an existing asset and get the hex, rather than eyeballing it against a screenshot and hoping it is close enough.

Free to preview, priced per export

Previewing is unlimited and costs nothing. A credit is spent only when you download a full-resolution file, so exploring an idea is never the expensive part.
