Why this tool exists
ICC Images started from a narrow, repetitive problem: producing the colour variants of a logo. A white version for a dark header, a black version for one-ink print, a transparent PNG at three sizes. None of it is difficult, all of it is tedious, and the usual answer is to open a full design application and spend twenty minutes on a task that should take thirty seconds.
So the tool does that one class of job properly — recolouring, background removal, format and size variants — in the browser, with every edit staying re-editable rather than being baked in. Images are processed on your own machine where the operation allows it.
How the guides are written
The writing on this site is first-hand, and it follows a few rules that are worth stating because plenty of tool blogs do the opposite:
- Recommend the right tool, not our tool. The comparisons say where Photoshop, Canva and Figma win outright, because they do, and a guide that pretends otherwise is not useful to anyone.
- Say when something is not possible. A PNG cannot be turned into a real vector, and an upscaler cannot recover detail that was never captured. Guides that imply otherwise waste people’s afternoons.
- Specifics over adjectives. Actual file sizes, actual menu paths, actual export settings — the things you look up at the moment you are stuck.
- Corrections get made. Every post carries a published and a last-updated date, and the updated date moves when the content genuinely changes rather than on a schedule.
What I write about
Mostly logo and brand file mechanics: vector versus raster, transparency and edge artefacts, colour systems, and the workflow questions that sit between a designer and a developer. There are 12 guides and comparisons on the blog.
