Why stamps are rarely straight
Any angle, one degree at a time
A stamp pressed by hand lands a few degrees off, and a scan adds its own tilt. The slider covers the whole circle in single degrees, so you can correct a small error or introduce a deliberate one.
Perfectly straight looks fake
A real impression is never exactly square to the page. A seal placed at precisely zero degrees on a digital document reads as pasted on. Two or three degrees of tilt is usually enough to make it look pressed rather than placed.
The canvas grows
Rotating a rectangle needs a bigger rectangle to hold it, so the canvas expands and the new corners are transparent. Nothing is cropped, which matters when the seal already runs close to the edge.
Rotation softens very slightly
Any angle that is not a multiple of ninety degrees resamples the pixels, which costs a little sharpness. One pass is invisible; nudging back and forth accumulates, so settle on the angle in a single move.
Transparency survives
A transparent seal stays transparent, and the space created around the rotation is transparent too, so the file still drops cleanly onto a document.
